Peerlessbyfar
Добавлен 16 июн 2007
On this channel you will find a diverse mixture of footage of military vehicles but mostly of trucks from the Great War. In our collection we have seven trucks from the Great War period which we have restored or are under restoration (or which are in the queue to be restored). I have included footage of trucks belonging to our friends or other collections or any other things which I think are interesting. We are currently restoring a 1918 Thornycroft truck which we hope to finish by 2018 in time for the Armistice centenary. After that we have two WW1 Peerless trucks to restore, by far the best trucks of the Great War?
World War One Thornycroft J Type lorry on the first trip out.
Steve purchased this lorry nearly 30 years ago and gathering parts and the restoration has taken a very long time indeed. We were hoping to get it ready for the centenary of the wars end. This was its first public appearance, a 40 mile round trip to the Haslebury Mill military vehicle show. It performed without trouble, although the fan did occasionally touch the radiator creating a tinging sound. It was well received at the show and it was a great day out.

Beautiful trucks ❤❤❤❤❤
"History repeating itself". No, it's a design principle that is understood and used appropriately.
What a sexy mechanism ❤ mechanical systems are just awesome
This is glorious! I'd love to see more, please.
Lekker toeren
I think that’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
My favourite WW1 truck.
Good looking War Holt 75
Where is this at?
WOW! Flat out! That was a site to see. Congrats to you all who put in all the work to keep that truck running like that. What a beautiful sound.
Hagan el bien a todos ya
Looks newly manufactured! Was this a black powder or smokeless powder weapon?
What museum is this?
There were no computers involved in designing & firing those guns.
I'm a union ironworker and all trades have a fascination to them❗️ thank goodness I took classes like drafting, metal shop, woodshop, leather work, plastics, home ec., distributive education....Etc. etc. when I went to school, it sure helped me in life❗️I don't know what they teach in school now‼️®™️ 😳😳
Even if you are pacifist, you must say this is beautifull piece of machinery, hand made without computers.
Look at this old timer rolling...
Designed with paper, pencil and ruler, built with machines powered by steam. this is the way!
Crazy to think that this was just a few short years after the Civil War. Technology, machining in particular advanced dramatically in a few decades
It might be helpful if you described exactly where this demonstration took place, in the description?
Dennis were very good engineers 👏 Haven't seen that way of crank starting before !
how is it on the motorway?
Industrial art!😎
This is what exploitive economies use talent and skill for
Too short, too superficial, too little explanation
Anyone know what museum this is at?
how does that giant metal seat fire a round the size of a grown man's head????
Definitely a top notch piece of machinery 👍
Beautiful design and beautifully built.
Поршневой затвор ?
カッコいい
That was beautiful to watch, would've been nice to see without the talking. Beautiful engineering way back when.
Классно !!!
The saddest part is how many of these guns are lost at the bottom of the sea...
Notevolmente preciso ! 🤞💯

"The Germans were funny" Things you don't hear that often
It's amazing what thievery and pillaging can allow you to accomplish.
Bronze?
The guy talking in the background is soooo fucking annoying and ruined this video....thanks idiot!
My Grandfather and father designed and produced obturators for many years. As a child I used to love spending time at the factory at Hill Mill, Bolton. This is one of the very few pictorial references to their use that I have seen. I’m now seventy years old and still remember my times at the factory fondly. Thank you for your posting. Alan Crossley.
I spend time with machinist when I was 7 years old, it was wonderful time, 45 years ago. Now they dont allow kids to come and see how things are made. So sad.
not what you would call a stamping
Amazing technology old is gold
we have been standing still for a very long time.
That is one the sexiest pieces of machinery engineering I've ever seen. Don't build 'em like that anymore.
Amazing the quality compared to now.
If I had 1,000 years I'd never be able to come up with that.
Top tip, do not fire without the obturator fitted. Big no no.
The Thronycroft looks fantastic,well done.
